A NEW Challenge!! EPaWC: Picture of the Week

Image
*May Contain Press Samples* I am starting a new challenge and it is suuuuuuper fun! We are given a photo of another members choosing and we have to do a nail design based on that photo. We each get a chance to pick a photo, too. It is called the ECOPOLO Picture a Week Challenge. ECOPOLO is the group we are in and it's for East Coast Nail Polish girls. We are a super tight knit group of girls that have been together for about 5ish years.  This is the picture we got for this week. Yes, it is not East Coast related... it is a beauuutiful picture of Portland. Portland happens to be one of my favorites places to visit and I missed it this year. I am so glad she posted this because it gave me a little reminder of how great that city is.  I did my best to recreate it but whatever crazy thing I do on my nails will never come close to this beauty. I used a whole ton of colors and I went waaaaay abstract on this one! I'm pretty happy with it. I can't wait to see next weeks...

52 Week Challenge presents Film and Holo

Image
**Winnings** This weeks prompts are Film and Holo. Well this is certainly a challenge. I had no idea what to do for this so I went waaaay broad. Like way, way out there. I decided to do a genre. A film genre. Ok, get your creative thinking caps on here. My film genre is love stories. I once in a while enjoy a good love story. Now, this is every once in a while because I usually cry when I watch them so I limit myself. Today, my heart was filled with love so I went with it. I used my Color Club holos which I am still totally in love with. I try to use these as much as possible. They are really great stampers, too. The Nail Challenge Collaborative Presents Geometric- Holographic Style

Image
I decided to do a holographic twist on my third look of geometric style for The Nail Challenge Collaborative. I used a stamping plate that I have no idea where it even came from. Like it literally just popped up from no where. Like under my helmer. I saw it glimmering and I was like, "what is that". I pulled it out and bam!! Match made in heaven!! These were really fun to do. I love my Color Club Halos. I won them in a giveaway almost 2 years ago and every time I put them on, I melt all over again. I actually used 3 colors from the collection, but it was super hard to show them since I had ZERO lighting because of the cruddy weather we have been having. Anyway, I think for my last challenge I am going to do some negative space artwork. I have not done a negative space mani for quite some time and I think that time has come back around. I like geometric designs and simplicity and I went quite fancy for this one, so I think it's time to do super simple. Wh...

Nail Art for Nubs

Image
This week I decided to do some holo stamping with this gorgeous Pretty and Polished AND some Color Clubs! eeeeek!! I am constantly seeking advice on stamping polish, because every single one I pick out, it's either not thick enough, not dark enough, or too quick drying! So, I never stamp. I would love to get into again, but it's just so frustrating. Good news is, I have found a mentor that has told me anytime I need help, to just ask! She doesn't know what she got herself into! For this mani, I just did a simple... really simple stamp design. I get frustrated with nubs because they are so hard to get a full stamp on and I really have to be careful when placing the stamper. Nubs and small nail beds makes it super hard. Really pretty designs can still be had though! Look forward to more stamp designs because I am looking to advance a little in this field. Nail Art for Nubs

Image
So, this is my holo-chrome- waterfall mani. Yeah, don't try this one. It didn't work so well. It just looks like a nice multichrome instead of a waterfall. That's fine, though. Also, I have decided that it is this time to switch up the base coat. My nails have started to peel and break. My nails, like my hair, always needs a switch. It's like when researchers say that bodies become immune to antibiotics. Well, my hair and nails become immune to the products I use after like a month. I am always switching them up once I realize my nails start to peel. As you can see, or not, I started with the ILNP holo multicrhome and added the Color Club streaks, then the Orly to fill in.  Stay tuned for my Nail Art for Nubs ideas coming every Monday!! Nail Challenge Collaborative Favorite Color

Image
Yes, this is a great combination of all my favorite shades! I love dark colors. Like soo much that I even wear them in the summer :) Anyway ILNP has chrome shades which encompass those dark colors into one fabulous nail polish.I really love the holoness of this, but the holo-gradient is really hard!! Harder than I expected. I thought it would be much easier with holos, but it wasn't. It didn't blend as nice as I expected, I guess. Well anyway! We just picked the theme for next month and it is NOT holiday themed. This means you can see more holiday reviews and I can do some tutorials for you like I did for Halloween!! Ok, enjoy! China Glaze Lost Pictures- Black Hole?!?

Image
So, I just magically found 2 sets of pictures that I took for blog posts that I thought just disappeared forever. Well I found them!! First, I will do the lovely and disappointing China Glaze- Get Outta My Space. China Glaze advertises this as a holographic polish. I only see shimmer and absolutely zero holo. Below is a side by side of what China Glaze calls a holo and what Color Club calls a holo. See it?!?! Anyway, although it is not a holo- I still love it. Purple is my digs and I will love it. So, here it is the non-holo Get Outta My Space!! China Glaze- Get Outta My Space

Color Club- Over the Moon

Image
* I won this polish in a random giveaway. It was not purchased by me. Here's another one of the great Color Club Collection that I won from The Nail Call s giveaway a couple months ago. Show Karen some love ya'll! Anyway, I won 6 and I have slowly- VERY SLOWLY- been showing them to you. I did do one massive swatch fest with them here , but I love them so much, I need to show them individual love! I do not like blue, in general, but any color that is a holo is great in my book. Over the moon is such a great color. I will be revisiting this one once I get some sun and it's not 100 degrees outside. Inside it has a nice shine, but outside is amaze!! I may have to do another impromptu photo sesh! Anyway, enjoy!! with flash Color Club- Over the Moon

Impromptu Holo Photo Session

Image
So I wanted to wear some holos because I have missed them in my life! I slapped on some beautiful Color Club holos and went to town. It also happened to be the only sunny day this week and I had a lot of running around to do! You all know that artificial light does nothing for holos and they always show their true beauty in the natural sunlight. This also happened to be the most traffic I have event sat in from my house to the grocery store. So, I decided- PHOTO SHOOT TIME! Rock it! As you can see, I snapped pics with all kinds of props. OPI polish, Tic Tacs, my shifter... Hey I have a lot of crap in my car, but it limited within my reach. So, I hope you all enjoy my impromptu photo shoot! Color Club-Cosmic Fate Color Club-Kismet

Nail Challenge Collaboriative- Stamping!

Image
Hello lovlies!! I have made it to week 2 of stamping which means I am back on track with everyone else!! I did do another series of stamping, but with the new blogger app it ruined ALL of my pictures I uploaded. So I had to scratch them all. Like 4 posts worth :( So this is really the 3rd stamping post, but since I had to delete the first one, I am back at 2nd. Who's on first, right?? Anyway, I did a sort of skittle stamping with some Color Club Holos and I hope you enjoy. Oh--- WARNING!! This is soooo pic heavy, it's not even funny. The reason- I did a flash- no-flash comparison for each. You can see the holo better with the flash, but the true color gets distorted. So, to be fair to the true colors, I did both!  Color Club- Beyond Bettina- Butterfly
