Poinsettia Tutorial

Today, I have a poinsettia tutorial for you all. As part of my 12 Days of Christmas Nail Art Challenge, I decided to add tutorials in wherever I can. Since they are all Christmas related, we are good to go. For this tutorial I used the following colors:

China Glaze- With Love
Sinful Colors- San Fransisco
Sinful Colors- Snow Me White
Maybelline- Onyx Rush
Nostalgic Nail Lacquer- Duckie

1. First I applied my base colors. I chose to do red, the China Glaze, on all of my fingers except the ring which will be my accent finger.

2. Next I started to create the actual flower part of the plant. I made a couple strokes with a thin brush. I started with kind of a star shaped pattern and filled it in. It looks a little bumpy in the pictures. I did some of this to add a little depth and texture so then when I add the detail, it will be easier. You can skip this and smooth them out if you want.

3. Next I added the leaves. I used the Sinful Colors- San Fransisco and Nostalgic Nail Lacquer for this. I made a couple strokes with a dotting tool with the SC and then topped with a stroke of the Nosty. The Nosty added a little dimension to the art. The little specks of glitter and the random hexes really look cute- I think.

4. I then added a couple black strokes for the detail. As you can see, it ties in the bumpy parts by adding a 3D look. Once you add the top coat, it will all smooth out. So if the thicker 3D look is not for you, it will be ok!

5. The last step is to add the yellow middle part of the flower. I just dabbed a little yellow with my dotting tool and then dabbed it in the middle of each flower. I then sealed it all up with a coat of Out the Door.
